Who is a thought leader?
A person who has the curiosity to learn with a commitment to add to and hone their knowledge in a particular field—and then be willing to share that knowledge freely. Thought Leaders focus on the why before they focus on the how. They ask questions such as “Why are we doing this in the first place?” “Why does it matter?” Thought Leaders are perceived as knowledgeable sources of insight in a chosen field or subject matter area— they are experts.
Simply put, a thought leader is someone other people listen to about a certain subject. They are humble learners and relentless thinkers who think deeply about items of importance that can change the world.
What does it take to be a Thought Leader?
It is a truism that thought leaders tend to be the most successful individuals. Expertise in a particular niche sets you apart from the ordinary. Your ongoing involvement in (or awareness of) that niche with a clearly identified point of view helps you build credibility over time as one who captures the power of their mind and employs thinking skills and tools to both lead and manage. This gives you a supportive following. Thought Leadership status is achieved by expertise, insight, and a valuable perspective that is formed over time.
